Does anyone recall the Intelligence Corps Sport Parachute Association? Can anyone help?
In 1973 I was at the Depot in Ashford going through basic and A3 training. I and a few of my compatriots were ‘encouraged’ to join the Intelligence Corps Sport Parachute Association which was just being formed, so as such we were proud founder members. I duly ‘jumped’ out of an Islander aeroplane above Lydd Airfield at 2000 feet. Poor weather prevented further jumps and I was soon after posted to BAOR (71 Int Sect, HQ 1 Div.)
The association was set up by a former Para whom I believe had recently transferred into the Corps and was working at the Depot. His name was SSGT Wright.
In those days my surname was Merrick-Reed. Does anyone recall the Association and does it still exist?
Steve
