Benevolence and Welfare

New Welfare Funds Available

In May 2022, ICA Trustees authorised the release of over £750,000 (over 10 years) for two new Funds– the Svendsen Benevolence Fund (SBF) and the New Purpose Fund (NPF), available to all Full ICA members and Associate (next of Kin) members, serving or retired.  To see the full details of these new funds and how to apply, please follow the links.  These funds are in addition to those highlighted below.

New Funds Briefing Note

SVENDSEN BENEVOLENCE FUND

NEW PURPOSE FUND

As a grant making charity the Intelligence Corps Association does not do casework but does work closely with charities who do, predominantly the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA). Once a need has been established the caseworker will approach the Intelligence Corps Association (and potentially other charities too) for a grant to provide funds for those who are in situations of hardship, distress or need. One benevolence request does not preclude others.

To be eligible to apply for a grant you, or a very close relative, must be a serving member of the Corps, or have served in the Intelligence Corps, or be a full member of the Intelligence Corps Association.

If you think you need help but are unsure, please contact us in the first instance.

Assistance to Serving Members

For serving members who are in need, applications must be made through the chain of command to the Corps Secretary.  The Intelligence Corps Association Benevolence and Grants Committee will consider each case against need and the recommendation of the Commanding Officer.

Benevolence to Retired Members

For retired members who are in need, applications are usually referred to the Intelligence Corps Association by one of the Confederation of Service Charities supported charities, which include the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF),  Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), The Royal British Legion, The Officers Association and others.  Most Intelligence Corps Association cases are referred by SSAFA. The Intelligence Corps Association Benevolence and Grants Committee will consider each case against need and the recommendation made by SSAFA.

The Intelligence Corps Association rarely consider applications which are not supported by either one of the service charities or by the Chain of Command, and in all cases, dispersement is made to the referring organisation rather than directly to the individual.

If in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact the Corps Secretary for advice at ica_hq@roseandlaurel.uk
